Do you accept pingbacks?

posted by Rich Howard

Do you guys approve pingbacks on your wordpress blogs? Wouldn’t that consider making those links you earned now a reciprocal link? Let’s hear you guys thoughts on this in the comments.

Many of you have been wondering how to capitalize on Facebook fan pages to get links and I have come to show you how to get do-followed links from your fan page.

First, let’s start by understanding that your default links from your info page are no-followed. In all examples posted below anything that is highlighted in pink means the links are nofollowed. (I am using the seomoz toolbar to highlight these nofollowed links)

SEO Tip of the Day: Link Building 101

posted by Rich Howard

Google still sees linking as the greatest way that they can determine relevance and link-building will be around for awhile.  Here are ways you may not have thought of to build some great links for your site:

Widgets:  Build a widget, like a calculator, a Firefox extension, or an iPhone application and add a link back to your site.

Articles:  Write articles with good content and spin them so you don’t have to write several articles.  When writing the articles, put links using keywords back to some of your inner pages.  Submit these articles to article sites like http://www.ezinearticles.com and http://www.goarticles.com.  You can write an article or press release and send it to your local online paper with links back to your site.

We all know Yahoo Directory is one of the most trusted and valuable directories there are on the internet to submit your website to. The search engines have all in one way or the other recommended submitting to the Yahoo Directory so therefore when you spend the $299 to submit to that directory you always wonder in the back of your head if you are a startup or self-funded venture “is that really worth it?”.

Link Building is one of the most important aspects of the search engine optimization game but it is the hardest out of all of the different aspects but if you can build quality relevant links to your website you can see tremendous success with little on-page optimization. This tip will show you a quick way to build links through directories by finding relevant directory categories that apply to your website and also how to keep up with your competitors who have directory submissions that might already be outranking you.

SEO Tip of the Day: Competitive Link Analysis

One of the most interesting things that always comes to my attention is the lack of attention that most search marketers give to their competitors back links. If your competitor is outranking for a keyword or one of your most important terms, why not do a competitive link analysis? Links are one of the most important parts of building trust within the search engines. (editorial links that is, not paid links)

I am going to show you a real life example of how I would do a competitive link analysis on a top website ranking for the keyword golf clubs. In this example I will use the website www.GolfSmith.com to understand why they rank #1 for the keyword golf clubs by analyzing there back links.
